Prior to this place burning, I took another adventure to see what the 'Lemon Chicken' people were raving about actually was. I have worked as a Sou Chef. Therefore, one cannot be easily fooled. I hope that the improvements that are underway include the menu and not just the building. Back to the 'Lemon Chicken' : It was tempura coated morsels, served in a heated, canned Lemon Pie filling. It was rather gross. I looked into the dark, foreboding kitchen and saw a sweaty, large man clad in a stained tank top working over a large wok. Need I say More?? It's shut down presently, make it a point to inspect the kitchen before you try it once they open it back up. With Love.

This place is great! We ordered take out and didn't have to wait too long. The portions were BIG and the sides of sauce we asked for we're actual sides, not little 2 oz containers. Good customer service, food and prices.

My family ate here when we stopped to spend the night on our way home from a vacay in Central Oregon. I stayed in the room as I was exhausted and not hungry. They came back to the motel with a TON of leftovers and my kids said it was the best Chinese food they had ever had and my husband said the servings were HUGE. I tried just a bit of a beef dish with some rice and it was delish. We planned to take the remainders with us and warm up at the campground we were staying at the next night but much to our regret we forgot it and left it all behind in the motel's fridge! It was a huge and pleasant surprise to find such great Chinese food in Klamath Falls. We hope to return someday if ever back in the area.

Not great for vegetarians, but the meat eaters in my party were happy. Was very busy when we went on a Sunday night in August 2009. Service was somewhat slow, but reasonably attentive. Portions were huge.

I didn't like my meal at all and the waitress asked me about it but didn't offer to reduce the bill or offer a freebee?? I maybe took 2 bites yuk! I ordered the spicy won ton noodles. It tasted like they had dumped bottled spaghetti sauce over it. very strong tomato sauce flavor, couldn't even taste the won tons or the veggies in it. The portions were huge and my meal was very hot but that is the only good thing, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing?? My dining partner said her was just ok, she also thought she had had much better. The service was not very good my partner got egg drop soup and wasn't even given the choice to have hot sour? The server was very rude when she delivered it and we never saw her again?

service was great. food tasted good. portion was large. eating less of it might have been wiser than eating too much.

very racist place. if you are non-white, don't expect to get good services in here. and the food is bad, the fried pork, chicken, they are very greasy.

The service was good, and the wait times were perfectly reasonable. The food was pretty much what you'd expect at a small town Chinese restaurant- a bit bland. I made the mistake of ordering a combo, rather than individual dishes. The pork fried rice- for which they would not allow substitutions- was mushy. The sweet and sour chicken had good flavor and was not as heavily over-breaded as some places. My subgum chicken chow mein was a huge portion, but was comprised almost exclusively of celery and water chestnuts. Rick's Bistro is far better for Chinese food in Klamath.

10 of us sampled the fare of King Wah while staying at the Running Y Ranch for a reunion. First off, you get soooo much food and it is very reasonably priced! I loved the Mar Far Chicken. I have never had that. Everything was very tasty and we left with a ton of leftovers. My only slight little complaint is that the fried rice was a little too dry. I love my rice so it was not quite up to my standard. We will return if we are ever up that way again!

I kind of wish I could give 3.5 stars but since I can't I'd say this restaurant is closer to 3 stars than 4. The fried rice is awesome, I absolutely love it. I keep finding myself wishing the fried chicken dishes weren't so soggy though. I don't know what makes it so soggy but this is one of the few Chinese places I've been to with this problem. I've been here about 5 times and that is how the fried dishes are, maybe it's the sauce but I've been to other places that use just as much sauce and it was still crispy. Either way, the garlic chicken dish is a non-fried dish that's pretty good too. Also giving just 3 stars because they forgot to include fried rice with one of our entrees and we had to drive back to get it on top of being interrogated like we were lying, which we did not appreciate by any means.

I am very surprised by all the negative reviews! We went here for the first time tonight on a visit from Portland. The food was delicious and the service was fast and very friendly. We had a large party and ordered fried shrimp, BBQ pork and shrimp egg rolls for appetizers. The BBQ pork was honestly the best I've ever had. It was incredibly moist with a slight glazed char on the outside. I ordered the #3 which included pork fried , chicken chow mein and fried shrimp. Other items at our table were orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, hot and sour soup and Mar far chicken. Honestly every bit was delicious. The fried rice was nothing to write home about with only pork and no veggies but that hot and sour soup was too die for. I don't write this lightly, as my family owns a restaurant nearby and I tend to be a harsh critic at times but I honestly think this is the best Asian cuisine I've had. Too top it off, the server was quite funny and very nice. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my meal at King Wah, but it did make me miss really good Chinese food! Very few vegetarian options, but there must not be a lot of requests for it. My General Tofu was very good, but it would have been nice if I could have added some vegetables to it. The egg rolls were just okay.

King Wah is your basic Chinese food joint. Everything was served piping hot but I can't say it transcended any other take-out place I've been to. But when you have a hankering for Chinese food, this place does not disappoint. Portions are ample....so we usually share. One star taken off for charging us for the extra plate...who does that anymore??

  • Nick H.

Typical food. I had a combo dinner and they were happy to sub vegetable Chow Mein. Thanks. Huge portions. The bar was packed, the restaurant less so. Very efficient and polite service. The building and carpets could use a little spiffing up but all the plates, flatware, etc were quite clean. I'd do it again. Just look for the place with the very, very tall sign.

Very poor quality food. Their egg noodle soup is Campbell's chicken noodle with some egg in it.

A great experience. The restaurant was clean and the staff was polite and caring. There was a window by our seat that looked into the kitchen area and it appeared well organized and clean as well. My autistic son was thrilled to see that they also had some sandwiches and burgers on their menu. His cheeseburger was a hand made patty and the fries were crisp. It was a way better burger than the last burger joint we ate at. The waitress was attentive and made a point if talking to Alan and joked with him. It's a rare occasion that he has as nice a lunch experience as we had today. Both my husband and I enjoyed the fast service. The soup was flavorful and my cashew nut chicken was delicious. It had lots of vegetables that were cooked perfectly. The rice was well prepared. It was a good solid pleasantly surprising meal. The only complaint I had was the menu didn't have a lot of explanation for many of their items. My husband tried something new and it came with lots of mushrooms and peppers which he detests. If he had been able to read what was in each dish he would have picked something different although it was also well prepared and I enjoyed it.

This Chinese restaurant is basic, plain at best. Don't expect anything magical about this place. The parking lot is packed, mostly for the lounge because the actual dining area wasn't too busy. The decor is falling apart, the floor is disgustingly dirty. Oh and when you go to the bathroom, make sure to wave to the people sitting right outside the door. This place needs some serious help. The food is pretty basic. The sweet and sour chicken is heavily breaded with a small side of sauce. For the prices, I guess I can't complain.

    (2)
  • Chris E.

Meh...that's my best summary for the food. The staff is nice but they definitely need a reboot in the kitchen and decor areas. No trace of pork in my pork fried rice, and the sweet and sour chicken was unremarkable. Will see what the competition is like here in K.F.

A lot of Great food at a good price. Sesame beef was extremely yummy and the General chicken was sweet, spicy and filling. The pork lo mein had huge slices in it. Lots of good leftovers. We were told that King Wah was the place for Chinese food in Klamath Falls. I wish they were closer to my home town! Our waitress was friendly and attentive too. Thanks for a great dinner.

  • Luis R.

My favorite chinese food in Klamath Falls. Really cheap food with very large portions.

    (4)
  • Chris A.

The orange chicken is overly breaded and tastes like the sauce was made using a container of powdered tang. However, their pot stickers are homemade and delicious. A downside is that it is hard to order anything spicy as you can ask for "911 hot" and still receive a meal with no heat as they are afraid they will make it too spicy and you'll return the dish.

I've ordered take out from King Wah several times, but only eaten in once with a visiting family member. Always pleasant and prompt service from the people working the register, whether its picking up a take out order or paying the bill. The food is good (not phenomenal)-just very good standard Chinese fare-great to have a reliable place in town when you are in the mood. The portions are amazing-the one time I've eaten in I couldn't believe the size of the plate and amount of food pile onto it! Though I've only sat down and dined at the restaurant once, I was immensely impressed with the service. The waiters were attentive-I could actually see ours watching us from the kitchen door to see if we were finished with our soup before bringing the main course to our table (very fast!). If you are looking for good consistent quality Asian food in Klamath Falls, King Wah is one of your best bets.

Quite a disappointing experience. Was not an accommodating establishment whatso ever. Asked for hot and sour soup, was told I would have to buy a massive size bowl to get a single serving. Poor attitudes from the waitresses. Couldn't get a Hal order of fried shrimp. To top it off the wait time is insanity. If I could give it no stars or negative I would. When the food came there was no carrots or peas in the fried rice and the general chicken tasted off. Will not be back

Huge portions at lunch and good value! Leftovers for next day's lunch are never a bad thing. The food was all good. Our table had the chow mein, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, BBQ pork (best Chinese mustard ever), and soup. Can't wait to go back and try the general's chicken and the sub gum. Nice clean and bright dining room. Great service from start to finish.

  • Christine K.

Good food, friendly service, big portion, reasonable price, what more do you want? We ordered 3 dishes. Chicken curry was tasty, and I don't even like curry. The general chicken is flavorful, and spicy. My son got this, even though it had some heat, he can't stop eating it as long as the waiter keeps bringing water. House chow mein was just right. Actually, it was the only plate we finished, boxed up the rest for dinner next day. We all shared the meal n all enjoyed it. It was a delicious and enjoyable visit. If it wasn't for the huge portion, we'll be back tonight. Now we have to eat the left over and be back on our next visit to KF

Just had dinner here while traveling through Klamath Falls.. Since we were staying at a hotel and didn't want left overs the waitress brought us smaller portions with separate sauce so we could customize our meal without having four containers of left overs. The normal portions are huge so we read on Yelp. The place was packed so apparently LOTS of other locals think this place is the bomb!,, thanks to our waitress, we will be back the next time through town!,,

After hiking nearby Mt Scott, a group of 8 of us were hungry for some home food. Pho or Chinese - we decided on King Wah after reading the reviews. We were a little apprehensive at first, not expecting real Chinese food in Oregon. We phone in for reservations. The older lady that greeted us told us to sit "over there" (with the other group for dark haired people.) Umm, we don't know them. This isn't turning out so well. We were pleasantly surprised to find authentic Chinese cook and (some) staff speaking Cantonese with us. We order family style (traditional) dishes from the menu because the stuff we asked for off the menu they couldn't do (they don't stock the Chinese vegetables; that's to be expected) - the dishes are large enough for 12 servings. The mushu skins were hard in places; a little too much vegetables in the Mongolian beef made a little watery. We even order "Egg Foo Young", and the only person that knew what that was supposed to taste like said it was as he remembered it as a kid in the mid-west - I take that as a complement. Our server was very pleasant, and made our dinner as authentic as he could. We all had extra take out boxes for lunch the next day.

My Chinese-American girlfriend and I ate there and she described it as "American people trying to cook Chinese food." Yet, we both liked it. The $7.50 lunch specials gave us enough to take home for dinner too. The owners and staff were super-friendly and we will come back next time we are in town.

This is our favorite Chinese food in town. Much better than all the other places. I always look forward to having dinner or lunch here. We usually get the hot and sour soup, and its AMAZING! Really like it....we also like the egg flower soup as well, great flavor. A personal favorite is the orange chicken, I get it every time and every time its great! Their fried rice is also amazing, and if I didn't love the orange chicken so much I would just order fried rice. I always have food left over to take home, the portion sizes are very large. This is great, as I like to have leftover lunch the next day. This place has been in Klamath for a really long time, and it had a fire a few years ago. After the fire, it closed down for a bit, and now its back open again. It has been open at least since June, when I moved back here, and since then have been going on a regular basis and the food has been AMAZING.....would definitely recommend!

This is the Chinese restaurant in Klamath that offers the most familiar Chinese food. You always have a pretty good idea of what you are going to get and, even if you had never been to King Wah before, you could order without even looking at the menu. The food is very good, tho I think the prices are a little high for what you get..... its not an expensive place by any means, but the prices are considerably higher than the other Chinese food options in Klamath Falls. The atmosphere here is exactly what you would expect from a non-franchise, dine-in Chinese restaurant. If you are visiting Klamath and you have a hankering for Chinese food I would suggest King Wahs. I don't think they are quite as good as Wongs, Pho Hong or R and G Grand Buffet, but, the food they offer is very traditional and very familiar. The service is pretty good. Nothing remarkably good or bad. The food takes a little longer than I would like....never an outrageous wait either tho.....and every time I have been in there the place has been packed....tho I have never had to wait for a table. I personally don't find anything "special" about this place, but I think a rating of "A-OK" is perfect. I will definitely eat here again.

Huge portions, reasonable prices, wonderful food , great staff. What more could anyone want? Their BBQ pork appetizer is amazing; always moist and a very large portion. Any time we are in the area we come here. We are true foodies and extensive travelers. We love King Wah!

We have lived in or near K. Falls for 21+ years and this has been our perennial favorite Chinese restaurant in the area along with Dynasty which went out of business a few years ago (well, maybe Sonny moved and it is still going?). Back to King Wah - Good portions, good prices, and friendly staffing has made this a go-to place about every other week for us...usually for lunch. Recommended!

This is a really good Chinese restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. They make a mean sesame chicken and their fried rice is also good. The service is also very good. Waitress came around at a reasonable time to overlook beverages. So far this is the best Chinese I have had in Klamath Falls. Worth checking out.

  • Terry C.

For the price the food costs the portions are huge. Not a bad place. the place is really big and the decor inside is clean and bright. The food wasn't bad. It was pretty good for a Chinese American restarurant. The General Tso's isn't really something to crave for. It's basically sweet and sour chicken with spicy sauce. Most places use dark meat. This place used white meat for the General Tso's chicken. The waitstaff was alright, though I'm not sure about the white polo shirts that they wear. I'm not a fan of polo shirts that has the establish name on it, kind of sends a image of a fast food restaurant. I think a straigh black shirt would look better as it hides soy sauce better than a whit shirt. Try the place.

The food was great and the place seemed cleaned but maybe a new look is due. Seems dingy and old which suprises me seeing as how it had a large fire back in 2009. Egg Pho Young was great!

This place is A-OK for the Klamath Falls area. They have reasonably priced lunch specials Monday through Saturday. The lunch specials come with egg drop soup and tea. The portions are HUGE, so you can either split it between two people or get a to-go box. My favorite dishes here are the Mongolian beef and kung pao chicken. The Mongolian beef has slices of beef mixed in with green bell peppers, white onions, green onions, and a spicy sauce. It's not too greasy and tastes great as left overs! The kung pao chicken has slices of chicken with green bell peppers, onions, water chestnuts, mushrooms, zucchini, and peanuts in a delicious spicy kung pao sauce. I like the barbecue pork appetizer, and have never found it to be greasy. It's sliced pork served with Chinese hot mustard and sesame seeds for dipping. The Chinese hot mustard will surely clear your sinuses! The wait staff are incredibly attentive as soon as you walk in the door. I have never had to wait long to be seated, to place an order to go, or to pick up my phoned in order. They provide great service!

I was excited to go here. I had "leftovers" from my g/f's take out lunch (pork chow mein) a couple of times, and really enjoyed it. So we stopped in today (a Saturday afternoon) at 1:00. I was surprised that they were not very busy. But that was okay, because I expected quick delivery of our food. We had Chan's Chow Mein, Sweet & Sour Chicken & Chow Mein, and Mar Far Chicken w/French Fries. (8 yr old in the house). With our lunch specials came Egg Flower Soup and Chicken & Rice Soup. The soups tasted almost identical, so they are obviously made from the same base. Considering that the place was not busy, it took an extended amount of time for our food to arrive. I had time to notice that we had a great view inside the Ladies Room. Once our food did arrive (20+ minute wait), the child's plate was missing. it came a few minutes later. Which gave me time to notice that the Chan's Chow Mein was cold. So they took it back. A few minutes later a new plate was sat before me, and I believe that it was a totally new plate since the chicken pieces looked different. Nice and hot. The food was really good. Jus wish the Chan's Chow Mein had a few more shrimp included. A big plus is that we had enough to box up so that it looked like we ate lunch, and then still got 3 take our orders. We will have it for dinner, and still have leftovers. I think they were just having a bad day, and the food was good enough we will go back. But I think we will ask for a table with a different view!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
